2016 Verdad Tempranillo RESERVA

This was the first vintage in 5 years that followed a winter with a decent amount of rainfall. A cool spring was followed by a normally the cool coastal growing the season with the foggy marine layer moving off shore in early September. Thr crop level was moderate and very high quality.

The grapes were de-stemmmed and the lots were punched down by hand for the first few days and pumped over for most of the fermentation to keep the tannin level in check.

The wine was aged in 75% new Ermitage barrels for 24 months.

This wine has a silky texture with bright plum aromas with flavors of sweet red cherries, plum, black berries layered with hard spice cocoa and notes of delicious toasted oak on the finish.
