2017 Verdad Cabernet Sauvignon Magnum
In 2017 we had a normal cool growing season and very small crop levels. Average production in the vineyards was down about 30-40% overall on the Central Coast.
However, the weather pattern changed during an intense heat wave during Labor Day Weekend which kick-started the ripening process.
This wine was de-stemmed and punched down twice a day during its natural, native fermentation. The wine was aged in 50% new French oak, split between puncheons and barriques for 22 months.
This Cabernet Sauvignon is medium-full bodied with balanced structure and a velvety texture on the palate. It exhibits layers of black plum and cassis fruit with savory overtones and hints of sage. The wine is framed with a supple tannin structure and finishes with hints of rose petals and classic cigar-box notes.
