2018 Verdad Graciano
Graciano is a little known Spanish grape variety found mostly in the Rioja region in Spain where it’s normally blended with the Tempranillo based wines of this great wine region. The grapes for this wine were grown at the Ibarra-Young Vineyard in Santa Ynez Valley. The vineyard has been farmed organically since 1999, although it’s not certified.
This wine was fermented in open top fermenters and punched down twice a day. It was aged in 3-year old French puncheons for 2 years.
We had a very cool growing season and the wine reflects this with firm acidity and balance. The grapes were picked in early October.
This is a medium-bodied wine with pretty berry, plum and rose petal aromas. On the palate it shows black plums and crushed berries with hints of herb de Provence and spice on the finish. This is a lovely red wine served with poultry, grilled salmon and rice dishes. Serve it with a little chill and enjoy it al fresco.
