2019 Lindquist Family "Z" Block Syrah Magnum

These vines were planted in 1992 and is the original hillside planting on Bien Nacido Vineyard planted with the Estrella clone of Syrah. The wine was fermented with one-third whole clusters and was picked slightly riper than the Z-Block. This was aged in two-thirds new Francoise Fréres Burgundy barrels and aged in barrel for 18 months. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered.

*93 points The 2019 Syrah Bien Nacido Z Block impresses with its creamy, layered personality. A healthy dollop (33%) of whole clusters lifts the dark Syrah fruit. The 2019 is exquisitely beautiful, but it also needs at least a few years to show the full breadth of its aromatics. Today, the 2019 is decidedly young and almost primary.-- Antonio Galloni
