2020 Carignan, Feliz Creek Vineyard
2020 Carignan, Feliz Creek Vineyard
Mendocino County
Feliz Creek Vineyard is located in Hopland, Mendocino County. The Carignan grapevines were first planted in 1908 and a second planting added in 1947. These vines are among the oldest Carignan vines in California.
The grapes were harvested on September 10 at 22.1 Brix and 3.29 pH. After de-stemming the must was put into open top fermenters and punched down twice a day by hand. After primary fermentation the wine was pressed and put into neutral French oak puncheons and aged for sixteen months prior to bottling. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
This is a gorgeous expression of Carignan with a spicy, pure red berry flavors followed by notes of rose petals and herbs de Provence and minerals and a long refreshing finish.
