2023 Tempranillo – Cabernet Blend

 67% Tempranillo 33% Cabernet Sauvignon

2023 was one of the coolest, longest growing seasons that I have experienced. The average temperature between April and October was in the low to mid 70-degree range with no significant heat waves. This allowed for slow steady maturation and an unusually late harvest.

The resulting wines are elegant, yet full of flavor and nuanced with great structure and finesse. This could be the best vintage of the 2020’s.

The Tempranillo comes from Martian Vineyard in Los Alamos which is Demeter Certified Biodynamic. The Cabernet is certified organic from Two Wolves Vineyard on the border of the Happy Canyon AVA.

The wine was aged in 15% new French oak and 15% Hungarian oak and aged in barrel for 20 months.

The resulting wine is perfumed with floral plum aromas and followed by brambleberries, notes of cedar, pink peppercorns, marshmallow and chocolate covered blueberries, hints of roasted walnuts framed by buttered toast and cocoa. A delicious and balanced wine. Tasting room and wine club exclusive.
