2020 Sawyer Lindquist Pinot Noir CASE SPECIAL
2020 was a good vintage in Edna Valley. We experienced a couple of heat waves during the growing season and the crop level was smaller than average for this variety. The resulting wines from this vintage are forward with an appealing lush characteristic and are very appealing to drink now.
This Pinot Noir is made from three different clones, 115, 667 & 777. It was a smaller than average crop level and shows nice concentration.
The wine was fermented with 25% whole clusters, in small open top fermenters and punched down by hand twice a day. After primary fermentation, the wine was aged in one third new, one third one-year old barrels and one third two-year old Francoise Fréres French oak barrels for 18 months.
This Pinot Noir has has perfumed aromas of cherries and raspberries with earth and herbal notes. It has a silky mouth-feel with pure fruit flavors layered with notes of tea, thyme, earth and sage. It’s framed by subtle spicy oak and is a balanced, delicious wine.
