This is the oldest Syrah section in Bien Nacido Vineyard which was originally planted to 1973 to Riesling then grafted over to Syrah (Estrella Clone) in 1986. This is 100% whole cluster fermented and aged in two-thirds new Ermitage barrels for 18 months. This wine is fined with organic egg whites and bottled unfiltered. At this time, the X-Block is the most restrained because of the large percentage of whole clusters in the fermentation. However, it will age and evolve beautifully over time.
