2015 Library Verdad Tempranillo Magnum

This was an interesting vintage with a warm winter followed by a cool spring that gave us a little welcome rain and by summer, the return of the cool coastal marine layer off the coast during the growing the season.  The crop level was small and of high quality.

The grapes were destemmed and the lots were punched down by hand for the first few days and pumped over for most of the fermentation to keep the tannin level in check.  The wine was aged in 30% new Ermitage barrels for 20 months. 

The wine has smoky plum aromas with flavors of sour cherry, plums and black berries layered with cocoa and a touch of toast on the finish.  This is a pretty, balanced wine with a silky texture and a rare example of cool, coastal climate Tempranillo.  Demeter Certified Biodynamic Wine.
