2019 Verdad Tempranillo, Sawyer Lindquist Vineyard
The grapes were harvested in perfect condition after a very cool growing season. The crop was small and of extraordinary high quality. The wine was native yeast fermented and went through a long fermentation. During fermentation the must was both punched down and pumped over.
The wine was aged for nineteen months in 50% new French wood in a combination of barrels and 500-liter puncheons. The wine was bottled without fining or filtration.
The wine is medium-full bodied with pure dark black and tart cherry fruit, cocoa, spice and hints of toasted spices and hints of herbs de Provence. This is gorgeous example of cool coastal Tempranillo.
*93 Antonio Galloni Vinous
*94 Wine Enthusiast - Dark aromas of fresh red fruit, juicy plum and loamy soil lure the nose into this bottling from a vineyard that Bob and Louisa Lindquist planted. Bright red-fruit flavors are spiced by pepper and baking spice on the palate, but the chalky tannins are most compelling and ensure a long, interesting life. Drink now–2039. Cellar Selection. —M.K.
