In 2023 we had a long cool growing season and the vineyards were bursting with health after a rainy winter.
Martian Vineyard is located in the Alisos Canyon AVA in Santa Barbara County. Alisos Canyon has a unique microclimate, typically 10 degrees cooler than the Santa Ynez Valley and 10 degrees warmer than Santa Maria Valley with foggy mornings, warm days and very cold nights that allows the fruit from this vineyard to achieve incredible concentration and balance. The soil, called "moon dust" is well aerated and mainly composed of shaley clay loam. The vineyard is Demeter Certified Biodynamic.
The biodynamic Grenache grapes were picked early for this Rosé and whole-cluster pressed. The wine was fermented in neutral barrels and went through malolactic fermentation, which added a nice depth and texture to the wine. The wine was aged for seven months prior to bottling.
This fragrant Rosé has a pretty pale rose-pink color and a round, supple texture. The aromas exhibit crushed wild strawberries and floral notes. Flavors of raspberries, strawberries are layered with lemon zest, herbal notes, with a pretty texture and a crisp, bright finish.
